Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I enjoy simple lines as I see things in front of me. Things I see. Simple lines are helpful when we are in front of complex things, events. I wanted to share with you these pictures I took in the Belgian countryside as I was traveling to host a painting workshop. I left some room for the magic of the instant moment, between my feeling, the camera and the movement. Not leaving too much space between the thought (the need) and the result. Kind of the same process happens with quick simple drawings. I say simple because of the number of lines/marks left on the paper, not because of the process. Easy to read.

As the space for creating these quick drawings is not filled with the pressure of creating masterpieces or any other kind of condition, there is then some room for letting the moment of the drawing be as it is. And go on. I feel this can also be translated into more elaborated drawings and paintings, but with the variable of time, this may vary.
I feel there is something so beautiful and calm in this process. And it has to be with simplifying shapes. I usually don ´t modify any of the marks I do with the pencil, the marks left the paper as they are. Some times I erase if it is necessary, but usually I don’t erase anything.

I've been enjoying this practice for a while, and I keep doing these quick drawings at any moment. On my YouTube channel I have a full sketchbook tour of a squared sketchbook I filled in some days with quick drawings. I bought this smaller sketchbook for this practice. I loved it.
My latest video is about me drawing some cows with a pencil in my sketchbook.
That´s it for this month. Thank you for taking your time for reading this Painting Letter. You can follow my work on Instagram and join me on Patreon if this is something you would like to. Subscribe to my Youtube channel if you enjoy my videos and tell me if you enjoy also doing these quick drawings and how do you make them :)
I hope you have a nice day,
See you next time,
Elena.
Such a lovely post as always. I adore your work and videos so so much!💕
